Dank&&Dapper represents the idea of being or striving to be a well-rounded and multi-dimensional individual. Meeting your own standards of cool without sacrificing the beauty of the mind to appease the masses. Often times, you'll find that the union of beauty and substance to be a rarity. The purpose of this blog is to serve as a reminder that being yourself while pursuing a dream is much more gratifying, no matter what. You must appeal to yourself before you appeal to others. Dank&&Dapper is also the name of a lifestyle-brand I plan to launch in the very near future. In the meantime, delight in the visions of a visionary. [=♥

A 1000 WORDS x MISCELLANEOUS MIX

A collection of findings I photographed within the past 2 months or so. Thrilling to be surrounded by a myriad of colours on a day-to-day basis. To immerse oneself in the sentiments each colour inspires is a thing of Art in its respect.

Had to take a couple shots of my Reebok classics; first pair of sneakers I've purchased since High-school. I'm a big fan of the Reebok, Adidas and Puma brand. I like Nike, yeah, but still-- I fancy Jordans, too, but its steep prices inspires distaste. Isabel Marant's sneaker line is amazing, not to compare high-fashion with urban brands, but, hey, since we're on the topic of sneakers. CAMPUS-COOL VOL.30 x ADORNED THORNS

[27-3-12] - Let's see, what to say? How can I go about telling tales about this day? Whoa, I certainly had no intentions of rhyming there; slip-of-tongue. Well, it was Spring Solstice, so I suppose that's grand. In fact, that is grand - the first day of Spring; my second favorite season.
The title of this post, "adorned thorns" has its origin in the constellation of my current thoughts. The title, as you may have assessed, is paradoxical in nature; representative of much more than the operating premise of Man. This is a topic I've delved deep with some friends, but I'd rather not divulge the content of said dialogue; entirely too much and too deep for a post that is only meant to serve as a presentation of the outfit, worn on the 27th of March. So, yeah, I digress. Peace.

TEFFILOSOPHY VOL.18 x A TALE TOLD BY TIME

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us There will come a time where you will set a flame and attempt to burn the blame.
There will come a time where you will bear fame where you once bore pain.
There will come a time where you will bear pain where you once bore fame.
There will come a time where you will rise where you were once coldly slain.

VIDEO: REEBOK CLASSICS x VIK | GRAFF ARTIST

Filmed by: Joe Cavallini

Shortly after sharing Eric Sosa's video for a track titled, "Hate", I found myself perusing visual artist, Joe Cavallini's Vimeo account; it was then that I stumbled upon this magnificent work of Art. The video features Brooklyn-based graffiti writer, Vik, whom, originally from Warsaw, is noted the "The Wonder Woman of Street Art. Upon the conclusion of this video, I concur.

Living in New York City, it proves quite difficult to neglect various city walls and buildings, adorned in a myriad of oolours, shapes and images; all works of incredibly talented graffiti Artists, both past and current. Whether it be a work of deviance or expression, which is all the same when you give it great thought, it still amplifies the overall allure and appeal that is New York city. I have always found myself overly captivated and infatuated by the works of graff Artists considering the fact that they are prone to creating on such large canvases. Imagine the depth of vision and meticulousness that must require? Have you encountered the deep sense of bewilderment inspired by spotting a graffiti piece on the top of water-tower? Or an incredibly tall building? I bet you wondered, "how and who the hell mustered up the strength to get up there and create that?" Amazing. Peace.

CAMPUS-COOL VOL.29 x CITRIC ACID

[25-4-12] - I initially constructed this outfit for a self-shoot, but I, too, opted to have my friend take some full-body shots for me the following day. I'll include the shots I took under the jump! Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

VIDEO: ERIC SOSA x "HATE"

Directed by: Joe Cavallini.

Eric Sosa is one of those Artists, equipped with a passion-filled flow, unlike any other you have ever had the pleasure of being familiar with. This track titled, "Hate" stands as a testament to the fabric of his aesthetics. I like to believe the fact he performs with a live-band amplifies his musical essence. Something about the blend of alternative rock, Rap, and Hip-Hop generates a greater sense of appreciation for the Artist that is Eric Sosa or any other Artists that employ a similar blending method. I sincerely urge you to get acquainted with him and enjoy; I trust that you will. Peace.

MIXTAPE: CASEY VEGGIES x CUSTOMIZED GREATLY V.3

Image Hosted by Imageshack.us

I learned of Casey Veggies sometime between early-to-mid last year on feature tracks from some Artists I enjoy. Shortly after listening to Dom Kennedy's "CDC", my enjoyment for Casey's music gained a bit more solidity, then I heard this -- CG: VOL.3. Of course, I did my research; I looked up the 2 volumes that preceded this release to get further acquainted.
My favourite track has to be, "verified". Whose idea was it to sample the Notorious One, B.I.G's "spit your game" on "Euphoria III"? Brilliant. Enjoy; peace.

CAMPUS-COOL VOL.28 x BOUNDLESS, LIMITLESS

[24-4-12] - I recently purchased a new lens - 50mm f/1.8 which means I just inherited a brand-new challenge. See, the lens is equipped with both manual and auto-focus capabilities, but it's manual for my camera's model. Eh. No sweat; I've come close to mastering self-shoots which was most important to me. I realized I haven't been doing that as much lately, but that's all about to change. After all, that is what my blog is/was built on - self-portraits.

I painted my nails a pastel peach (by Revlon), accented with olive-green metallic tips this past Monday night and I have since then been marveling at the contrast between both textures. See, I have a thing for textures. Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

VIDEO: DISTRICT HOMME x V.02 | LOOKBOOK

Directed by: Chris Laughter.

The excitement, aroused by the sight of a man in a well-tailored suit is incomparable. As I've stated before, I grew up with a Father who had an immense Love for clothing and fine tailoring; I was predestined to inherit a similar fondness.

Yet another brilliantly done visual, brought to you by the fine folks over at LA-based haberdashery, District Homme. Visit the site, learn more and most importantly, enjoy. Peace.

A 1000 WORDS x NYC | PHOTO-DIARY

[5-4-12 - 11-4-12] Like a Mother longs for the warmth of her child, I long for New York.

The air, the people, the food; oh, the food! "Absence [indeed] makes the heart grow fonder". Here are some random captures from my stay over Easter break which by the way, was an overly eventful visit.

Man, where do you begin? No. No, I think I will go against my grain and withhold details. Ah! Bet you were wildly curious, yeah? Well, pardon me. I did the usual: spent time with family, did a bit of shopping, made some new friends, etc. The weather wasn't at all what I expected. What was I thinking? I had blatantly underestimated the longevity and severity of New York's winter. Have I been absent that long? I digress. VIDEO: L.A. x "I'M ALIVE"

Directed by: S(c)e(n)e Media.
How often are you moved by talent? Like, actual talent? I'm talking mind-numbing, Spirit-soaring talent? How often do you feel overwhelmed, dwelling in the realm of another's Creative energy? How do you react?

There are rare occasions where I've glanced at a photograph, listened to a song or marveled at the majestic form of ballerina, with my face glazed with a smile, spun by the doings of the subconscious. I live for those moments; I anticipate them. I anticipate them like a starved man hungers for food. Or a broken heart yearns to be healed. Or a like a mad man's cling to his last bit of sanity.

It is with that pleasure and more that I present to you undeniably one of Brooklyn's finest, L./\.'s latest visual from her sophomore project, titled "The L.A. Riots: Mental Fatality. "I'm Alive" is actually my favourite track; it literally sends chills and thrills up and down, up and down, up and down my spine.
The video features another budding Hip-Hop talent, K. Forbes!

TEFFILOSOPHY VOL.17 x EMINENCE, INTERRUPTED

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us I am nothing; I am nobody. Before you think this a consequence of excessive indulgence in the abyss of negativity, consider what is said of nothing and what is said of nobody. I am not, therefore I am.

CAMPUS-COOL VOL.27 x CULTIVATE CULTURE

[2-2-12] --Something madly, yet tastefully rebellious about wearing a leather skirt and destroyed tights. The 2nd of February had been an unusually warm day in its warmth and vast ray of sunshine. But then again, this past Winter. as I and many others may have mentioned, had been peculiar. I think that's partly what made it enjoyable; never did wallow in the lonely air, orchestrated by the season nor did I have to sacrifice Spring break due to snow days. However I must admit that I did miss the sight of snow. Like, I am deeply bothered by that one, measly snowfall. I've worn an outfit similar to this with the exception of the leather skirt and camo jacket. Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

TEFF x COMPANY: ATL PHOTO-DIARY MARCH 6TH - MARCH 14TH

Spring-break this year, I sought thrill in the realms of the state of Georgia , namely the city of Atlanta. Being that each time I've visited, some problem of whatever sort arises; it's either I get sick, my skin breaks out in rashes; my body seems to react negatively. Not only that, the purpose of my previous visits were for the sake of accompanying my sister, seldom for self-enjoyment or to vacate nor escape. It had never been my visit; I was not at liberty to operate on my time, at mt own pace, at me own will, so it was seldom fulfilling. Also, my stay usually never extended for more than a weekend, but not this time around. This time, I made certain I nurtured the up-keep of my health and exercised caution and precaution in all things. Of course, I couldn't shake off this treacherous cough that has ailed me for over a month. I came to learn it was whooping-cough. HA! Funny, I know.

Anyways, for my stay, I planned to immerse myself in whatever ATL had to offer in a week's time, but what was the end-result of my trip? Lots of thrift-shopping, walked around downtown, visited Little Five, spent more time with my twin, tried some cakes at Cafe Intermezzo (B52 is Heaven-like; I recommend it), smoked Hookah for the first time, had a photo shoot (Which went super well!), sleep-overs, did a bit of clubbing and so on. All was not lost, though; I got to see more of Atlanta and it pleases me to admit my vacation was worthwhile.

Most of these pictures were taken with an iPhone4; I wasn't in the mood to haul Fiona (my camera)around, you see.

Much Love to Slick Jackson., the Artistic-director behind the production of this visual; he never ceases to amaze. Peace.
